"Can you just do a deep clean?" is one of the first things people ask me. And it's a great question — but it means something different to almost everyone who asks it.

Some people picture a full top-to-bottom scrub that takes all day. Others just want their bathroom to sparkle a bit more than usual. So let me clear it up: here's exactly what I mean by a regular clean, what goes into a deep clean, and how to know which one your home actually needs.

What's included in a regular clean

A regular clean is what I do on a recurring visit — weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Think of it as maintenance. I'm keeping your home in the good condition it's already in.

A typical regular clean in a Woodstock home covers all the rooms you use daily. In the kitchen, I'll wipe down counters, clean the sink, wipe the outside of appliances, clean the stovetop, and mop the floor. Bathrooms get a full scrub — toilet, shower, tub, sink, mirror, and floor. In bedrooms and living areas, I dust surfaces, vacuum carpets, mop hard floors, tidy cushions, and take out the trash.

It's thorough. It's consistent. And because I come on a regular schedule, everything stays on top of itself. That's the beauty of recurring cleans — the house never has time to get away from you.

What's included in a deep clean

A deep clean is everything above, plus the stuff that builds up over time and doesn't get touched during a regular visit.

I'm talking about inside the oven — racks pulled out, degreased, and wiped clean. Inside the fridge, shelf by shelf. Behind the stove and under it if I can move it safely. Inside kitchen cabinets and drawers if needed. Every baseboard in the house. Light switches and door handles. Window sills and tracks. Ceiling fan blades. Limescale buildup on taps and showerheads. Grout scrubbing in bathrooms. Behind and under furniture where dust bunnies set up permanent residence.

It takes longer — usually a full day for a three-bedroom home. But when it's done, it feels like a different house.

When you need a deep clean

Not every visit needs to be a deep clean. In fact, if you're on a regular schedule with me, you may only need one or two per year. Here's when I recommend booking one:

First time I clean your home. Even if your house is tidy, a deep clean on the first visit sets a clean baseline. Every regular clean after that is easier and faster because we've already dealt with the buildup.

Seasonal resets. Spring and fall are the most popular times. After a long Canadian winter with sealed windows and dry heat, a spring deep clean makes a noticeable difference in how the house feels and smells.

After renovations or construction. Post-renovation dust gets everywhere — inside cabinets, in light fixtures, behind appliances. A deep clean after a reno isn't optional, it's essential. I do a lot of post-renovation cleaning in Woodstock, especially in the newer subdivisions going up around Sally Creek and North Woodstock.

Before moving in or out. Whether you're leaving a rental and want your deposit back, or you're moving into a new place and want to start fresh, a deep clean is the right call. I have a separate move-in/move-out service for this.

Before hosting or holidays. If you've got family coming to stay and you want the house to feel effortlessly clean — you know, like one of those homes where everything just smells right — a deep clean a day or two before they arrive does the trick.

How often should you deep clean?

For most homes in Woodstock, I recommend a deep clean once every three to four months if you're also doing regular bi-weekly cleans. If you don't have recurring service, you might want one every couple of months to keep things from piling up.

Homes with pets, young children, or heavy foot traffic benefit from more frequent deep cleans. Homes where it's just one or two people and the windows stay open half the year can stretch it longer.

How I approach deep cleans in Woodstock

Every deep clean starts with a walkthrough — either in person or over text with photos. I want to see what I'm working with so I can give you an honest quote and realistic timeline. There's nothing worse than showing up expecting a three-hour job and realizing it's a full day.

I bring my own eco-friendly, pet-safe products — same ones I use on every visit. If you have preferences or sensitivities, just let me know. I work room by room, top to bottom, and I don't leave until it's done right.

If you're not sure whether your home needs a deep clean or a regular clean, just ask. Text me at 519-860-2807 or get a free quote through my contact page. I'll be honest about what I think you need — even if it means telling you a regular clean is enough.
